Dr Mahensingh Deonaran

I meet the person, not just the problem.

I'm a dual Chartered Psychologist and Scientist and Registered Psychotherapist, with extensive experience across psychotherapy, psychological assessment, clinical leadership, higher education and forensic mental health.

My background spans NHS secure and prison mental health services in London, university counselling and wellbeing services, postgraduate psychology teaching, and applied research — a broad, grounded understanding of distress, behaviour, risk, resilience, identity and change.

My early career in complex mental health settings asked for careful listening, emotional steadiness and sound judgement — and that still informs the calm, thoughtful and professionally responsible way I work today.

I bring together academic credibility and real clinical experience, but my style isn't distant or formal: thoughtful, attentive, direct when needed, and genuinely engaged in helping you make sense of what you're going through.

My work is guided by respect, confidentiality, integrity and cultural sensitivity — and a belief that therapy should feel both safe and genuinely human.
I don't approach therapy through theory or diagnosis alone, but through an integrated understanding of the person — their experiences, relationships, values, strengths, and capacity for growth.
